Terms & Conditions

The terms that govern your engagement with Mora Studio and our interior design services.

Last updated: March 2025  ·  Applicable to all service agreements from March 2025 onwards

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before engaging Mora Studio's services. By proceeding with an enquiry, signing a service agreement, or making a payment, you agree to be bound by the terms set out here.

1. Definitions

  • "Mora Studio" — refers to the interior design practice operating as Mora Studio, based at 22 Jalan Setiabakti, Bukit Damansara, 50490 Kuala Lumpur.
  • "Client" — refers to the individual or organisation engaging Mora Studio's services.
  • "Services" — refers to any of the interior design or project management services described on our website or in a service proposal.
  • "Agreement" — refers to these Terms and Conditions together with any signed proposal, quotation, or service letter.
  • "Project" — refers to the specific scope of interior design or renovation work agreed between the parties.

2. Acceptance of Terms

Engagement of Mora Studio's services — whether through a signed proposal, payment of a deposit, or written confirmation via email — constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not proceed with an engagement and contact us to discuss your concerns. We are happy to clarify any aspect before work begins.

3. Services Offered

Mora Studio currently offers the following interior design services for residential and small commercial projects in Malaysia:

Landscape of Needs Consultation — MYR 450

A structured site visit and design consultation resulting in a written document covering layout suggestions, mood direction, and visual references. Delivered within one week of the site visit date.

Layered Design Development — MYR 3,200

A full design service from initial brief through spatial planning, material selection, furniture curation, lighting, and 3D renders. Includes two client feedback rounds. Typical timeline of 6–9 weeks.

Terrain Management — MYR 1,650

On-site renovation coordination including vendor management, material procurement, site quality checks, and a final styling session. Duration of 8–14 weeks depending on project scope.

Service fees are quoted per project and are subject to a written proposal. Mora Studio reserves the right to decline a project if the scope falls outside our area of expertise or capacity.

4. Engagement Process

All engagements follow a structured process:

  1. Initial enquiry or consultation request submitted by the Client
  2. Mora Studio reviews the project brief and prepares a written proposal
  3. Client reviews and accepts the proposal in writing
  4. Deposit payment confirms project commencement
  5. Work begins per the agreed scope and timeline

Timelines indicated in proposals are estimates based on reasonable assumptions. Delays arising from client feedback, third-party vendors, site conditions, or circumstances beyond our control are not included in these estimates.

5. Fees and Payment

All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are inclusive of applicable service tax (SST) unless otherwise stated.

Standard payment structure:

  • A 50% deposit is required before project work commences
  • The remaining balance is due upon project completion or delivery of final materials
  • For extended projects, interim billing milestones may be agreed and documented in the proposal

Payments are accepted via bank transfer to Mora Studio's designated account. Details will be provided in the invoice. Overdue invoices beyond 14 days from the due date may result in work being paused until settlement is made.

6. Scope Changes

Any changes to the agreed project scope — including additions, revisions beyond the included feedback rounds, or changes in property specifications — will be discussed and quoted separately before work proceeds.

Mora Studio will not carry out work outside the agreed scope without written confirmation from the Client. Scope changes may affect the project timeline and will be communicated clearly.

7. Client Responsibilities

A successful project depends on clear communication and timely decisions. Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information about the property and project requirements
  • Respond to design presentations, questions, and requests for decisions within reasonable timeframes
  • Arrange access to the property for site visits and renovation works as scheduled
  • Obtain any necessary permissions, approvals, or building consents required for the works
  • Notify Mora Studio promptly of any changes in project requirements or site conditions

Delays resulting from late client approvals or inaccessible properties are not the responsibility of Mora Studio and may affect agreed timelines.

8. Intellectual Property

All design concepts, drawings, mood boards, 3D renders, and written materials produced by Mora Studio remain the intellectual property of Mora Studio until full payment has been received.

Upon receipt of full payment, the Client is granted a non-transferable licence to use the delivered design materials for the specific project for which they were created. Mora Studio retains the right to use project imagery for portfolio, marketing, and educational purposes, unless the Client requests otherwise in writing prior to project commencement.

Materials may not be resold, distributed, or used for other projects without prior written consent from Mora Studio.

9. Confidentiality

Both parties agree to treat sensitive project and business information shared during the engagement as confidential. Mora Studio will not disclose client project details, property information, or personal data to third parties except as required to deliver the agreed services or comply with legal obligations.

This confidentiality obligation continues for two years following the conclusion of the project.

10. Limitation of Liability

Mora Studio's liability for any claim arising from the provision of services is limited to the fees paid for the specific service in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages.

We are not responsible for delays, cost variations, or outcomes resulting from third-party contractors, material suppliers, or site conditions that fall outside our direct scope of work. Where Mora Studio is engaged for project coordination (Terrain Management), we act as an organiser and liaison and do not assume the contractual obligations of independent contractors.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence, fraud, or personal injury.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate the engagement by providing written notice. In the event of termination by the Client:

  • Work completed to date will be invoiced at a pro-rata rate based on the agreed project fee
  • The initial deposit is non-refundable once design work has commenced
  • Any materials already procured on behalf of the Client remain the Client's financial responsibility

In the event of termination by Mora Studio — for example, due to extended non-payment or circumstances that make continued work impractical — any work completed to the termination date will be invoiced accordingly, and all client materials will be returned.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

Where a dispute arises, both parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith discussion before pursuing formal proceedings.
